Position Summary

 

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Lab Operations Manager to oversee daily operations in our diagnostics laboratory. This role is critical in ensuring high-quality, timely, and compliant diagnostic testing to support patient care and research initiatives. This role will be responsible for managing laboratory staff, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring regulatory compliance in a fast-paced and innovative environment. ​​

Responsibilities
​

• Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day activities of the diagnostic laboratory, including sample processing, testing workflows, data analysis, and reporting. 

• Staff Management: Supervise, mentor, and train laboratory personnel. Oversee scheduling, workload distribution, and performance evaluations. 

• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Implement and monitor quality control procedures in accordance with CLIA, CAP, or other applicable standards. Ensure all operations meet required regulatory and safety guidelines. 

• Process Improvement: Develop and refine SOPs and workflows to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and throughput. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using metrics and performance data. 

• Equipment & Inventory Management: Oversee calibration, maintenance, and validation of lab instruments. Manage inventory of reagents, consumables, and supplies to prevent disruptions in operations. 

• Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with R&D, regulatory, IT, etc. to support assay development, validation, and deployment. 

• Data Integrity: Ensure proper documentation and data integrity for all testing and quality assurance processes, including participation in audits and inspections 
   

Qualifications

​

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field. 

• Minimum of 7 years of lab experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. 

• In-depth knowledge of diagnostic assays. (e.g. immunoassays, etc.). 

• Strong understanding of laboratory regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, FDA, HIPAA). 

• Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. 

• Proficiency with LIMS, lab automation, and Microsoft Office Suite. 

• Certification as a Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) preferred. 

• Background in managing lab operations teams during assay development or clinical validation. 

• Exposure to tech transfer or design control processes for diagnostic assay development desired 

• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (IVD, LDTs, CLIA) is a plus, though not required.
